The old Erwin Penland Building at the corner of Falls and Broad Street is set to get some exterior upgrades according to this Certificate of Appropriateness from the cities Design Review Board Urban Panel.

The building is listed on loopnet as having 1,335 square feet available in the basement, 5,362 sq feet on the first floor, 6,504 square feet on the second floor, and 6,481 square feet available on the third floor. The drawings submitted to the DRB seem to indicate Nelson Galbreath will be one of the tenants – but it’s not clear how much of the space they’re going to lease.

The building will remain largely unchanged, with some cosmetic updates, new windows and an ADA-accessible wheelchair ramp. The photos make it look as if they’re planning to create some retail storefronts along the broad street side.
