The hot chicken war is heating up in Greenville, after Asheville-based Rocky’s Hot Chicken recently announced a new location on Laurens Road, the group behind Willy Taco has announced Flock Shop – their take on the classic nashville hot chicken joint.
The location is the old WN Watson Auto Garage on Washington street. The old garage layout is perfect for creating an open-air feel – a large open space with multiple garage doors on both sides they’ll be able to open up in good weather. And you’ll be less than a stone’s throw from FireForge brewery, which should be a great partnership drawing crowds to the area.
There is another location being opened in Spartanburg, similarly in an old auto garage. If you recall, Willy Taco was once an old Feed & Seed, so this fits into their model of rehabbing buildings from non-restaurant lineage into eateries.
Parking is a little tight in that area, but they’re just a block from the Spring Street garage, so if you can’t snag a spot on the street, the garage is only a block away.
Nashville Hot Chicken as a central focus is new to Greenville – a few restaurants offer it on their menus, but these two recent additions make us wonder if Hot Chicken will be the next hot commodity in Greenville, like the boom of Taco shops we’ve seen over the last few years.
