Accordign to a public notice from the Planning & Development Division, owners of On the Roxx and The 05 bar on Augusta, Elizabeth Hunt, and Heather Frenchette, are planning to make use of the old American Grocery Restaurant space to open a new concept called Encore: a late-night dessert bar.
The public notice outlines a great deal about how the restaurant, or gastrolounge as the menu indicates, intends to operate, including late night hours, from 4PM to 1AM, tuesday through saturday.
Their business plan says:
Target Audience: Patrons who are 35 years of age and up. Encore will have decor providing an upscale feel with a menu and background music designed to appeal to this demographic. Food will be gourmet small plates and amazing desserts. Our drink menu will focus on wine, high-end liquor and craft beer, along with specialty cocktails to compliment the food and drink. Our goal is to create a restaurant where patrons can enjoy several small items to share or come in after dining at one of the other great downtown restaurants for an amazing dessert experience.
The menu includes a wide array of small plates and decadent desserts, and some exotic main plates, such as “Skate Wing” which is apparently the body of a skate fish, which kinda looks like a stingray.
