If you’re a beer fan and you haven’t been to Sierra Nevada’s brewery and taproom, you’re missing out. It’s an easy hour drive from Greenville up Highway 276, Highway 25 and I-26, right near the Asheville Airport. It’s a beautiful property with plenty of parking.

The taproom and restaurant are massive, and located to the left-most side of the property and open up into a large outdoor seating area that slopes downhill to a stage, where they often have Live Music, especially on the weekends. It’s family and dog-friendly.

We didn’t eat at the restaurant this trip, but the last time, the food was great. It’s a big open concept kitchen that you can see from just about anywhere inside. They have a children’s menu as well.

You can enjoy a beer just about anywhere on the property once you’re inside, including the walkways on the second floor, which overlook the brewery production facilities. You can walk along and peer into the operation from up high, or you can sign up for a guided tour – but they fill up fast, especially on the weekends, so don’t wait to make a reservation until last minute – you might not get in.

A couple notes about NC’s Alcohol laws: BRING YOUR ID, you must present it to be served a beer, and when you go to get a beer, each person can only be served one beer, so you can’t grab a round for the table all by yourself. Also, don’t get back in line until you’ve finished your first beer – they won’t serve you another until you’ve at least halfway finished your first.
